For Gian-Carlo, East Calgary is home.
Over the last 30 years, Gian-Carlo has lived, worked and built roots in Ward 9. From working at Spolumbo's, to doing river jumps off the old zoo bridge, to meeting his wife playing ultimate frisbee at the University of Calgary while he worked on his Master's degrees, Gian-Carlo gained the full Calgarian experience before deciding to dive into municipal politics.
Before taking office as Ward 9’s current City Councillor, Gian-Carlo worked as an urban designer where he learned the importance of the link between people’s quality of life and their environment.
With three terms on Calgary’s City Council under his belt, Gian-Carlo is ready to use his success and experience to take on a fourth. He has proven that he’s willing to take on the hard work required to keep our city moving down the right path.

Why We Endorse Gian-Carlo
In Gian-Carlo’s mind, there’s no better place to live than Calgary. But he understands that we didn’t get to be such an amazing city without a lot of hard work, and there’s still more left to do.
He knows that Calgary has long been a place to establish roots (having proudly started a family himself here) but also knows that we’re reaching a critical juncture where our economy and our policies must reflect the city we want to become, not the town we once were. To do that, he knows that Calgary must be a city for everyone.
Gian-Carlo has led difficult conversations around the future of development in our city, and from our community surveys and engagement, those conversations are necessary in spite of the associated challenges.
Gian-Carlo is the only incumbent candidate we’re endorsing–and there’s a reason for that. It’s his track record of success, and advocating for the needs of residents not just in Forest Lawn, Ramsay and Bridgeland but those across the entire city, which signals that he’ll be able to continue to fight for better.
